 • Series: Week 14

Hey friends, Remember me? I haven’t written to you in a number of weeks, but I have not forgotten about you! And I am continuing to cherish our journey together through the Bible. We’ve just wrapped up Week 14! I hope you’re continuing on the Bible reading journey and finding it as rewarding as I am! We’ve followed Jesus in 3 of 4 Gospels together. I pray you enjoy and find rewarding reading Luke and Acts consecutively! We’ve prayed Psalms 1-67 together with Jesus! I so love how Psalm 67 brings together the Aaronic Benediction (Numbers 6) and the Great Commission, the worldwide mission of the church for all people (Genesis 12 & Matthew 28). We’ve journeyed through some beautiful and difficult territory in the first 6 books of the Bible. Now we’re right in the middle of the rated R book of Judges. Whoa! As you’re reading through the Old Testament, keep on praying through every syllable, every word, every sentence, every page, “Show me Jesus.” Maybe a more fitting title for the book of Judges might have been Deliverers. The Hebrew verb to describe the actions of these “judges” is yasha, which is the same word root as Yeshua, the Hebrew name for Jesus, which means Savior. Incidentally, Joshua, the big name in the previous book, also signals the idea of Savior! He’s the “Old Testament Jesus,” who brings people safely into the promised land. Reminder: The Bible Project has some great resources to support your Bible reading journey. Their “Read Scripture” book summary videos are phenomenal! Joshua Judges When we began this journey I highlighted some major themes to keep looking for JESUS, LOVE & GOD’S WORLDWIDE ALL PEOPLE MISSION. As we wade through the messy middle of the Bible it’s easy to lose sight of those themes, but keep looking and you will catch glimpses shining through all along the way! Jesus, as we read together, continue to shape our lives, our habits, our character by Your Spirit. Help us share Your love and shine Your light! May people who’ve been hurt by Christians or the Church be surprised by our goodness and sincerity and may they be blown away once again by the beauty of Your love for them! Amen! If you have thoughts or questions, drop me a line! Peace in Christ, Karl
