I’ve been praying “Show me Jesus” as I have read these first three days. Here I’ll share a glimpse of what God is showing me in these opening chapters of our plan: NEW TESTAMENT John 1 Jesus, the word, with God, was God, in the beginning, all things made through him, the life, the light of humankind, true light, word became flesh, full of grace and truth, Jesus Christ, before me, greater than me, worthy, Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world, Son of God, Rabbi, Messiah, Christ, Jesus of Nazareth, son of Joseph, King of Israel, John 2 Jesus, wedding guest, son, master of the feast, bridegroom, zealous for his Father’s house, the temple, destroy this temple/body and raise it up in three days, he knew all people, knew what was in man John 3 Jesus, rabbi, teacher from God, God is with him, teacher of Israel, Son of Man, bronze serpent lifted up for healing/life, God’s love for the world, God’s Son PSALMS Jesus, blest man (1) anointed son (2) persecuted victim (3) OLD TESTAMENT Genesis 1 Jesus, the word, the light, the goodness, the image of God human Genesis 2 Jesus, the seventh day rest, the breath and clay Adam, the tree of life, the priest in the garden temple, the bridegroom/husband Genesis 3 Jesus, the seed of the woman, the snake crusher, the sacrificed animal who covered their nakedness Genesis 4 Jesus, the True Older Brother, the younger Abel, the shepherd, the martyr, the opposite of Lamech: forgiveness in place of vengeance Genesis 5 Jesus, like Enoch walking with God, taken up by God Genesis 6 Jesus, righteous, blameless, obedient, walking with God Noah, the ark, the covenant Genesis 7 Jesus, the ark, the flood of God’s limitless love for the world (opposite this flood of death) Genesis 8 Jesus, the olive branch, the altar, the sacrificed animals, the goodness to counteract humanity’s evil Genesis 9 Jesus, the covenant with all creation, the rainbow Here’s a little poem I wrote to respond to and summarize the plot so far: God created everything By just saying the word And it was all good, good, good, good, good, good, very good! Planted people in a garden. A world of beauty and delight. Meaningful worship and work. More than enough food. We walked away from God. Listened to the serpent. Forgot the gifts. Stole the food. Hid from God. Blamed others. Lost our home. Brother killed brother. Cities were built on blood. God was so grieved. His tears became a flood. God remembered Noah Protected in the ark Promised his love with a rainbow. God’s world got a restart.
